About Us
A long and varied ownership of Hanson-Neely Funeral Home is recorded back to the days when L.O. Ream founded the original funeral parlor. This was later purchased by Harry Mohler and Bill Lantz who ran it for several years. In 1936, Harry Sousley purchased the Mohler portion of the business.
Raymond "Breezy" Cretors began working for Mohler and Lantz in 1933, continuing in the business until 1950. During the 1940's the funeral home operated under Lantz-Cretors. Nineteen years later he came back into the business under Hanson and continued working until he died in December, 1985
Other owners after Lantz-Sousley, were Breezy and Otis Lantz, who together bought out the Sousley interests. In 1950 Breezy sold to Bill Lantz, and father-son owned the funeral home until 1955 when the Hanson Family purchased the business. Previously, Wellington "Wink" Hanson was in Alger with his father Glenn and brother Webster, in the family operated business. The funeral home in Alger has continued to operate since 1921, mostly in its present location.
The Ada funeral home was located just north of the Ada Theatre on South Main Street. The Hanson's operated the business in that location until 1964, when the new funeral home was dedicated on East Lima Avenue, its present location.
Up until January of 1975 the funeral home doubled as an ambulance service for the area until the county took over. After "Wink" Hanson died in July, 1975, Bruce Neely became owner and Chief Operating Officer, operating under the name Hanson-Neely Funeral Home. Hanson-Neely Funeral Home was invited to attain membership in The International Order of Golden Rule, and has been a member since September of 1977. The International Order of the Golden Rule is one of the world's largest professional associations of independent funeral homes, whose members are dedicated to offering dependable, dignified and caring service to families. The funeral home is also a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. In 2019, Bruce Neely retired and Scott Allison assumed ownership of the Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services.
Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services continues to serve the surrounding communities from the Ada and Alger locations.
The funeral home is blessed to have many dedicated and compassionate associates. They include the following individuals: Scott Allison, Christie Stephens, Linda Staley, Julie Hunt, and Dan Thompson.
