Tommy L. Prater, Sr., age 59, died on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 5:33 AM at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on June 19, 1959 in Frankfurt, Germany to Russell and Maggie (Webb) Prater and they survive in McGuffey. On August 1, 1981 Tommy married Deborah "Debbie" Arnett and she survives in McGuffey.

Tommy worked for Nickles Bakery.  He was a member of the McGuffey Church of Christ.  He was a former coach for the Alger Ball Association.  Tommy was a member of the Kenton Moose Lodge #428 and a member of the Water Board for McGuffey. He was an avid golfer.  Tommy loved kids and teaching them to play ball.  His favorite things were his boys and grandchildren.

He is also survived by his two sons: Tommy L. (Kelsey Osborn) Prater, Jr. of McGuffey and Joseph "Woody" (Katy) Prater of Kenton; three grandchildren: Koen, Knox and Bea Mavery; two brothers: Terry Prater of Dola and Larry (Karen) Prater of Bellefontaine; and a sister, Pam (Tom) Ark of DeGraff.

A memorial service will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the McGuffey Church of Christ with Pastor Steve Holbrook officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alger EMS.
