The journey started a long time ago when Leonard said yes to the Lord's calling to be a child of His. From that day forward Leonard grew in faith and desire to one day take his place in heaven with his Lord and Savior. On October 15, 2022, Leonard's faith became a reality as he was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior.
He was born on December 28, 1942, to the late Arthur and Loretta (Lawrence) Donnal. Leonard married Christina (Newland) Donnal and she survives in Alger.
Also surviving are Leonard's two sons: Leonard "Jimmy" (Louann) Donnal of Alger, and David (Susie) Donnal of Lima; six grandchildren: Christy Donnal of Alger, Nick (Tasha) Graham of Lima, Samantha (Austin) Ezell of Alabama, Melissa Graham of Indiana, Riley Graham of Harrod, and Tylor Donnal of Lima; six great grandchildren: Isaac and Elijah Graham of Lima, Zelly and Kieran Ezell of Alabama, and Lilly and Max Northcutt of Indiana; a brother, Mel Donnal of Kenton; two sisters: Phyllis (Ricardo) Razquin and Linda (Tom) Bly all of Florida; mother-in-law, Charlotte Dysert of Alger; brothers-in-law, Robert (Susie) Newland of Alger, and Kevin (Deb) Dysert of Florida; three sisters-in-law, Pennie Ingram of Alger, Kimberly (Jim) Dickerson of Tennessee, Dana (Bruce) Conner of Lima, and Sue Sexton of Florida; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers: Ron and Gary Donnal; and two sisters: Janice and Karen Donnal.
Leonard retired after thirty years from Ford Motor Company in Lima. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964 with 1 ½ years in Germany. Leonard was a member of the Alger Assembly of God Church, where he served on the church board and was also leader of the men's ministry for several years.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the Alger Assembly of God Church, 7050 State Route 235, Alger, Ohio 45812, with Pastor Mark Andreasen officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger with graveside military honors conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Ada VFW Post #9381. The funeral service will be lived streamed on the Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook page beginning at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 19th.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
