Jon W. Umphress, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at 1:34 AM at Mercy Health-St. Rita's Medical Center.

He was born on December 13, 1949, in Lima to the late Wilbur and Virginia (Foss) Umphress.  On June 20, 1971, Jon married Susan J. Epley and she survives in Ada.

Throughout his life, Jon worked at the Kenton Times, WKTN Radio Station, the Ada Police Department, and WTGN Christian Radio Station.  He was actively involved with the Ada Kiwanis Club, the Historical Society of Ada, and Ham Radio.  He was a member of the McGuffey Church of Christ.  His faith and love for the community of Ada led him to serve at Beatitudes.  Jon was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He was so looking forward to celebrating their 50 ^th wedding anniversary which would have occurred in June of 2021.

Jon is also survived by a son: Tom Umphress of Ada; a daughter: Nikki Umphress of Ada; and two grandsons: Dylan and Logan.

He was preceded in death by two daughters: Jennifer Umphress and Meagan Stoodt.

Attendance will be restricted at the funeral and visitation based on space to accommodate social distancing requirements.  The family and funeral home requests face coverings be worn while attending visitation and service.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, private family services are being held with David Holbrook officiating.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.  The funeral service for Jon will be live streamed on the Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook Page beginning at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2020.
