John Henry Bailey, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 6:45 AM at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on December 18, 1942 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Kellie and Dorothy (Thornsbury) Bailey, Sr.   On October 25, 1964 John married Norma Hicks and she survives in McGuffey.

Also surviving are two sons: John D. Bailey of Kenton and Jason L. (Michelle) Bailey of Belle Center; two daughters: Sherry (Donald) Taylor of McGuffey and Jeannie (James) Biederman of Kenton; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren;  two brothers: William (Sharon) Bailey of McGuffey and Paul Bailey of Alger; and a sister, Oma Parkins of McGuffey.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Kellie Bailey, Jr. and Timothy Bailey; and two sisters: Marilyn Wilson and Lovanda Culver.

John retired from the State of Ohio, where he worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation.  He was a member of the Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, Alger.  John was a U.S. Army veteran and a former member of the Ohio Military Reserves.  He was a member of the Kenton AmVets Post #1994.  John loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, Alger with Rev. James Gatchell officiating.  Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger with graveside military honors conducted by the Kenton AmVets Post #1994 Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
