Freeman Cogar, age 99, formerly of Diana,WV, passed into the arms of Jesus at Vancrest of Ada on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.  He was born at Desert Fork, West Virginia on December 11, 1921, to Alec and Mary (Coe) Cogar.

Freeman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beulah (Brooks) Cogar, infant son, Robert Lee Cogar, his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by sons: Russell (Sue) Cogar of Diana, WV, Delbert (Annette) Cogar of Ada, Larry Cogar of Upshur, WV, Harold Cogar of Diana, WV and James Cogar of Kenton; daughters: Gladys (Jack) Stout of Litchfield and Glenda (Terry) Woods of Buckhannon, WV; eleven grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; siblings: Lonnie Cogar of Laurel Fork, WV, Louise Cogar of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Ina Hall of Ohio; many nieces, nephews, special friends and family, including Dave Thompson, Donald and Bea Brooks, Karen Cogar, and others too numerous to mention.

Freeman never met a stranger and loved to tell of his experiences as a woodsman when he cut timber and hauled logs with a team of horses.  His family can attest to what a hard worker he was and how he always cared for them.  He was always whistling or singing.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Vancrest for the wonderful love and care they gave Dad.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada, with Randy Allen officiating.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada, with Mike Meeker officiating.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada.
