Charrilyn J. “Sherry” Benjamin, age 78, of Alger, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Vancrest of Ada, surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 31, 1947 in Lima, Ohio to the late Grover and Doris “Jan” (Koons) Guyton, Jr. On September 11, 1971 Sherry married James J. Benjamin and he survives in Alger.

Sherry retired from Ohio Northern University, Ada where she worked in the Financial Aid Office. She was a member of the Alger First Methodist Church. Sherry was an EMT for the USV EMS.

She is also survived by her two children: Timothy (Susan) Benjamin of St. Marys and Amy (Yousef) Esaleh of Alger; a grandson, Yakob Esaleh; brother, Leonard “Bim” (Sandy) Guyton of Alger; sister-in-law, Kate Benjamin; and a niece and nephews.

Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with her son, Pastor Tim Benjamin and Pastor Don Clinger officiating.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
